What Causes Pain to the Left of the Navel?
Disease description:
I’ve been experiencing persistent pain on the left side of my navel for the past couple of days. What could be causing pain on the left side of the navel?
Pain to the left of the navel is most likely caused by a colonic disorder, as the descending colon lies to the left of the umbilicus; colonic pathology—such as ulcerative colitis—can manifest as periumbilical pain. Alternatively, it may stem from a small intestinal disorder; conditions such as adhesions or Crohn’s disease can also cause pain in the left periumbilical region.
