Is rosacea the same as strawberry nose?
Disease description:
Recently, I noticed black bumps on the surface of my nose, which look very unsightly. After examination, my doctor diagnosed it as “strawberry nose,” but a friend insists it’s “rosacea.” Are rosacea and strawberry nose the same condition?
Rosacea and “strawberry nose” are distinct conditions. “Strawberry nose” refers to the presence of blackheads—small, dark, raised lesions on the nasal surface—caused primarily by increased sebum production, leading to follicular pore obstruction and abnormal follicular keratinization. In contrast, rosacea predominantly manifests as facial central erythema (redness), often accompanied by pustules, papules, and, in advanced cases, rhinophyma (nasal enlargement).
