Can leukocytosis indicate leukemia?
Disease description:
My nephew has recently experienced recurrent fever, and his lab test results show elevated white blood cell count. Could this elevation indicate leukemia?
Leukocytosis does not necessarily indicate leukemia; it may result from bacterial or mycoplasma infection, and other malignant diseases cannot be ruled out either. A definitive diagnosis cannot be made based solely on a complete blood count (CBC). If leukemia is suspected, the patient should undergo bone marrow aspiration under the guidance of a physician, which enables accurate diagnosis.
