Is a right-sided epididymal cyst serious?
Disease description:
I am 27 years old this year. Recently, I’ve been experiencing some discomfort in the genital area, and an examination revealed a right-sided epididymal cyst. Is a right-sided epididymal cyst serious?
Epididymal cysts, also known as spermatoceles, result from obstruction of the vas deferens leading to accumulation of seminal fluid. Small, asymptomatic cysts are generally benign and typically require no treatment; they do not impair fertility. If an epididymal cyst is present, smoking should be avoided as much as possible, since harmful substances in tobacco smoke may impede recovery. Additionally, spicy and irritating foods should also be minimized.
