Dr. Xu Gang
Acute otitis media with mastoiditis is typically treated with ear irrigation or, as directed by a physician, with appropriate antibiotics to which the causative pathogen is sensitive. Ear irrigation is usually performed by a qualified physician using topical otic agents such as ofloxacin ear drops. Antibiotics effective against the infecting organism commonly include macrolides (e.g., clarithromycin and azithromycin), cephalosporins (e.g., cefixime and cefdinir), and penicillins (e.g., amoxicillin-clavulanate potassium and amoxicillin).
