What should I do if my baby is allergic to infant formula?
Disease description:
After drinking formula, the baby developed diarrhea. Upon visiting the hospital for evaluation, the doctor diagnosed a formula allergy. What should be done if a baby is allergic to formula?
If your baby is allergic to infant formula, discontinue its use immediately. If breastfeeding is available, continue exclusive breastfeeding to prevent worsening of the allergy. Additionally, consider switching to an alternative formula—such as an amino acid–based formula or a hydrolyzed protein formula. If parents remain concerned, consult a pediatrician and have your baby evaluated at a hospital; thereafter, select an appropriate formula under medical guidance.
