My baby has recently shown little interest in complementary foods, and also seems to have a poor appetite for formula milk. I’d like to prepare some nutritious porridge for him—what are some suitable nutrient-rich porridges for infants?
Infant nutritional porridge typically includes rice porridge, foxtail millet porridge, corn porridge, and “Eight-Treasure” porridge. Additionally, nutrient-rich ingredients can be incorporated into these base porridges—for example, adding Chinese yam to create yam-millet or yam-rice porridge, or incorporating pumpkin or carrots to make pumpkin porridge or carrot porridge. Lean meat or fish may also be added to prepare meat- or fish-based porridges. Furthermore, nutritious ingredients such as red dates, goji berries, or mulberries can be included; vegetable-tofu porridge can be prepared; or pork liver may be added to the porridge—all of which help stimulate appetite and regulate spleen and stomach function.
