Patients with sentinel piles may experience pruritus ani (anal itching). This condition may arise from chronic local inflammation that has persisted over time and has not been treated promptly or effectively. In addition to anal itching, patients may also experience pain during defecation. Treatment options include fissurectomy or lateral internal sphincterotomy.
