Can children get reinfected with pneumonia after recovery?
Disease description:
My child had pneumonia recently—how come they’ve gotten it again so soon? Can children be reinfected with pneumonia after recovery?
Children can experience recurrent pneumonia even after recovery. Despite undergoing systematic treatment and care, pediatric pneumonia may still recur due to diminished immune function. Triggers such as exposure to cold, getting caught in the rain, staying up late, fatigue, consuming spicy or irritating foods, or overeating can progressively weaken a child’s resistance, rendering them highly susceptible to invasion by pathogens—including viruses, bacteria, and mycoplasma—leading to inflammation of the pulmonary mucosa.
