Hyperthyroidism is not contagious. Patients are advised to consume light, bland foods and drink plenty of water to promote metabolism. Adequate rest is essential; if insomnia occurs, short-term use of sleep aids may be considered. Additionally, other medications may be prescribed to alleviate symptoms of complications. Should any discomfort arise, prompt medical evaluation at a hospital is strongly recommended.
