Why do I always feel hungry despite having normal hyperthyroidism and blood glucose levels?
Disease description:
I have hyperthyroidism. My blood glucose level tested today was normal, yet I constantly feel hungry. Why do I experience persistent hunger despite having both hyperthyroidism and normal blood glucose levels?
Although thyroid function and blood glucose levels are both normal in hyperthyroidism, patients often experience persistent hunger due to excessive hormone secretion and accelerated metabolism. Excess thyroid hormone in the body stimulates gastrointestinal motility, accelerating gastric emptying. Additionally, thyroid hormone enhances the body’s metabolic rate; as energy production increases, energy expenditure also rises significantly, leading to frequent feelings of hunger.
