Is there any hope for treating neural tinnitus?
Disease description:
I’ve recently developed symptoms of sensorineural tinnitus, accompanied by hearing impairment. Is there any hope for recovery from sensorineural tinnitus?
Neuropathic tinnitus is treatable. It is typically caused by damage to the auditory nerve; when the auditory nerve experiences hypoxia or ischemia, resulting in abnormal neuronal hyperexcitability, neuropathic tinnitus may occur. Patients should follow their physician’s guidance and take neurotrophic medications—such as mecobalamin tablets—as part of treatment.
