What are the treatment options for myopia?
Disease description:
During my vision examination, I was told that I have myopia, though the degree is still mild. What treatment options are available for myopia?
Myopia can be treated surgically or with corrective eyeglasses. Pseudomyopia can be managed pharmacologically to slow myopia progression—for example, with tropicamide, cyclopentolate, or low-concentration atropine. Myopia, astigmatism, and hyperopia are all amenable to surgical correction. If refractive error progresses rapidly and axial length increases quickly, scleral reinforcement may be required to control myopia progression and prevent severe myopic complications.
