Esotropia (inward turning of the eyes) can be corrected with eyeglasses or surgery. If the condition is mild, a refraction examination should be performed, and the patient should wear fully corrective glasses as prescribed by the physician. If this approach proves effective, annual refraction examinations are recommended to ensure timely replacement of corrective lenses—many patients achieve successful correction this way. However, for some patients who show no improvement with glasses—particularly those with larger angles of esotropia—surgical correction should be considered.
