What should I do if my eyes deviate (squint) when I’m daydreaming?
Disease description:
Others mentioned that they noticed my eyes deviating (strabismus) when I was daydreaming today. I’ve occasionally noticed it myself as well. What should I do if my eyes deviate when I’m daydreaming?
When staring blankly, the eyes deviate—this symptom is most commonly associated with intermittent strabismus, requiring a hospital evaluation to determine the underlying cause and enable early diagnosis and treatment. Strabismus results from a misalignment of the latent eye position controlled by the binocular fusion mechanism; typically, the deviation is small and becomes undetectable when attention is focused. Patients usually remain unaware of it themselves, and it can only be identified during a comprehensive ophthalmologic examination. If no discomfort or visual symptoms are currently present, no intervention is generally required.
