Dr. Zhang Liwen
The hazards of a lower lip mucocele include a pronounced foreign-body sensation and a tendency toward recurrence. After the development of a lower lip mucocele, normal salivary secretion into the oral cavity is impaired. As the cyst progresses, it may interfere with normal eating. Even after spontaneous rupture and healing, new cysts often form. In severe cases, a hemispherical protrusion may develop.
