Can systemic lupus erythematosus be cured?
Disease description:
Grandpa says his ankle is slightly swollen and painful. The doctor diagnosed him with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Can this condition be cured?
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is generally difficult to cure; however, its progression can be effectively controlled with drug therapy. This not only helps prevent damage to other organs but also reduces the risk of complications. In clinical practice, SLE is primarily treated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), glucocorticoids, immunosuppressants, and biologic agents.
