Treatment for bed bug bites depends on the individual case. If the patient exhibits no systemic symptoms and only presents with localized skin redness and itching, initial management may involve cold compresses and observation; pharmacologic treatment is typically unnecessary. However, if pruritus is severe and erythema/swelling worsens, topical agents such as butenafine hydrochloride ointment and/or oral antihistamines like cetirizine should be used under a physician’s guidance.
