To determine whether an infant has breast milk jaundice, prompt hospital evaluation—including complete blood count (CBC), physical examination, and serum biochemical tests—is essential for accurate diagnosis. A physical examination helps assess the infant’s overall health status; CBC aids in identifying possible anemia; and serum biochemical testing evaluates whether serum bilirubin levels are elevated. Additionally, liver function tests and other relevant investigations may be required to rule out other types of jaundice.
