Can patients with high blood sugar take Kaiwei Jianpi Pills?

Disease description:

I’ve recently been experiencing poor appetite, and sometimes I feel nauseous after eating. My family has some “Kai Wei Jian Pi Wan” (a traditional Chinese medicine for stimulating appetite and strengthening the spleen) at home, and I’m considering taking it. However, my blood sugar levels are still elevated, and I’m unsure whether it’s safe for me to take this medication. Could you please advise whether individuals with high blood sugar can take Kai Wei Jian Pi Wan?

Dr. Pan Yongyuan
Individuals with elevated blood glucose who experience gastric discomfort may take Kaiwei Jianpi Pills. These pills are composed of traditional Chinese herbal ingredients, including Magnolia bark (Houpo), Tangerine peel (Chenpi), and Atractylodes rhizome (Baizhu), and are clinically used primarily to treat symptoms such as disharmony of the spleen and stomach, loss of taste, anorexia, nausea, and vomiting. Patients with hyperglycemia should, when necessary, use antihyperglycemic medications under medical supervision. Additionally, they must avoid high-sugar foods in daily life to effectively control blood glucose levels.
