What Causes Frequent Bleeding of the Teeth?
Disease description:
My father’s gums bleed frequently, especially while brushing his teeth. What causes frequent bleeding from the teeth?
Poor long-term oral hygiene or consumption of irritating foods can lead to gingival inflammation. If the inflammation is severe, minor bleeding from the gums may occur during toothbrushing; this can be alleviated with anti-inflammatory medications. Inadequate brushing allows food debris to accumulate locally, leading to the formation of dental calculus (tartar) and dental plaque. If an infection develops, it may cause gum bleeding, which can be treated with ultrasonic teeth cleaning.
