Disease description:

The ankle area feels particularly sore and stiff; sometimes, I even feel as though my foot doesn’t belong to me. Could you please explain what “bone calcification” is?

Dr. Lin Yunfei
This generally refers to extensive calcium deposition in the joint area. Causes include local trauma leading to tissue injury, followed by reactive hyperplasia; over time, calcium deposits accumulate, resulting in calcification. Additionally, certain neoplastic lesions may also cause this condition. Patients are advised to protect their joints in daily life, maintain a healthy diet—specifically limiting or avoiding high-calorie and high-fat foods—and engage in regular physical activity.
