What Should You Do If a Child Develops Nosebleeds Due to Food Stagnation?
Disease description:
My best friend’s son has recently been eating more than usual and experiencing slow digestion, leading to food retention. He even had a nosebleed in the middle of the night while sleeping. What should be done for children who experience nosebleeds due to food retention?
The child may experience epistaxis (nosebleeds). To manage this, wrap an ice pack in a towel and apply it to the bridge of the child’s nose. Cold application stimulates rapid vasoconstriction of capillaries, thereby helping to stop bleeding. During episodes of food retention, offer the child liquid or semi-liquid foods—avoid overfeeding. Suitable options include plain rice congee, milk, and other easily digestible fluids; additionally, encourage increased intake of vegetables and fruits.
