I have had tonsillitis for a long time, and I am planning to undergo surgery recently. Could you please tell me what tests are required before a tonsillectomy?

Blood tests, vital signs monitoring, electrocardiogram (ECG), and other examinations. Patients must undergo these assessments to evaluate for any abnormalities and rule out contraindications to surgery. Preoperative laboratory tests include complete blood count (CBC), liver function tests, renal function tests, and the “four pre-transfusion tests.” Vital signs—including blood pressure, pulse rate, body temperature, and heart rate—must also be assessed. If a patient’s vital signs are unstable—for example, if fever or hypertension is present—the surgery may be postponed. Additionally, cardiac disease must be ruled out.
