I’ve been experiencing a runny nose recently, and sometimes I also have a cough. I’m not sure whether it’s sinusitis or the common cold—how can I distinguish between a cold and sinusitis?

The two conditions typically differ significantly in terms of symptoms and pain location. When patients develop nasal disorders, the predominant clinical manifestations often include more severe symptoms such as nasal congestion, loss of smell (anosmia), and rhinorrhea. Nasal discharge is commonly accompanied by sore throat and cough. In contrast, sinusitis-related headaches are typically localized to a fixed area. Common colds, however, may involve symptoms affecting the nasal cavity, pharynx, and even the entire body. Prompt treatment is essential upon diagnosis of either condition.
