Is inadequate blood supply to the heart synonymous with coronary heart disease?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve been feeling unwell physically. My doctor mentioned insufficient blood supply to the heart and expressed concern about possible coronary artery disease. Is inadequate cardiac blood supply synonymous with coronary artery disease?
It is possible. Inadequate cardiac blood supply is associated with factors such as poor sleep and unhealthy diet over the past few years, and does not constitute coronary artery disease. “Inadequate cardiac blood supply” is a relatively nonspecific diagnosis; some clinicians may assign this diagnosis based on clinical symptoms—such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, or palpitations—or on findings suggestive of myocardial ischemia. Patients are advised to prioritize adequate rest in daily life.
