Can rhinitis improve after tonsillectomy?
Disease description:
I’m currently unwell, so it’s not possible to remove my tonsils at this time. I also suffer from rhinitis—will my rhinitis improve after tonsillectomy?
Symptoms typically do not improve spontaneously. Acute rhinitis generally requires minimal pharmacological treatment; patients should drink plenty of fluids and get adequate rest—recovery usually occurs within about one week. Chronic rhinitis, by contrast, is defined as rhinitis persisting for more than three months and may be managed with oral medications to alleviate symptoms. After undergoing tonsillectomy, patients should seek medical attention promptly if complications such as postoperative bleeding or fever occur. Postoperatively, cold compresses may help relieve pain, and dietary precautions should be observed.
