Ear ringing (tinnitus) caused by ear cleaning should be treated with appropriate medication. Observe for several hours to see if symptoms improve; if not, seek medical attention at a hospital and follow your doctor’s treatment recommendations. Tinnitus may occur immediately during ear cleaning—this is generally considered normal. During examination, if the physician identifies a small tympanic membrane perforation, observation is typically recommended, as such perforations usually heal spontaneously within 2–3 weeks.
