Can individuals with astigmatism undergo myopia surgery?

Disease description:

My child has been nearsighted for a long time, and also has some degree of astigmatism. I’m planning to take my child for refractive surgery in the next few days, but I’m unsure whether the procedure will be suitable at that time. May I ask: Is it possible to undergo myopia correction surgery if one has astigmatism?

Surgery is generally an option, but comprehensive preoperative evaluations must be conducted to accurately assess the patient’s underlying condition. It is essential to determine whether the patient meets the surgical indications and whether any contraindications exist. Astigmatism can be treated surgically; however, astigmatism correction surgery is typically limited by corneal thickness, imposing certain restrictions on the degree of refractive error that can be corrected—generally ranging from approximately 100 to 1000 degrees.
