How to Treat Pink Eye
Disease description:
After using my eyes extensively, I developed conjunctivitis (pink eye). I tried self-medicating by purchasing over-the-counter drugs, but saw no improvement. How should conjunctivitis be treated?
Conjunctivitis (commonly known as “pink eye”) requires medical treatment with medications. This condition is highly contagious and can occur in both spring and summer; however, with prompt treatment, it causes no damage to the eyes. For viral conjunctivitis, antiviral eye drops are recommended; for bacterial conjunctivitis, antibiotic eye drops are appropriate. Maintaining good personal hygiene is crucial—for example, towels and washbasins should be boiled in hot water daily.
