A clicking or popping sound in the knee during squatting and standing may result from normal physiological crepitus, or it could be caused by degeneration of the articular cartilage or patellar joint instability. Additionally, knee osteoarthritis or injury to the meniscus within the knee joint cannot be ruled out. If the sound is due to a normal physiological phenomenon, avoid maintaining a single posture for prolonged periods or repeatedly performing the same motion in daily life to prevent joint injury.
