Disease description:

Recently, my mother has been experiencing chest tightness. After visiting the hospital for evaluation, the doctor diagnosed her with coronary artery disease (CAD), and mentioned that she may later develop symptoms of myocardial ischemia. I would like to ask: What are the symptoms of myocardial ischemia in coronary artery disease?

Doctor's answer (1)
Dr. Li Man
Chest pain (particularly in the precordial area), chest tightness, and shortness of breath are the primary manifestations of myocardial ischemia in coronary artery disease; severe cases may be accompanied by other related symptoms. If myocardial ischemia results from anemia, consuming Ejiao cake (a traditional Chinese preparation made from donkey-hide gelatin) may be beneficial; if it is caused by iron-deficiency anemia, increasing dietary intake of iron-rich foods is recommended. If any of the above symptoms occur, an electrocardiogram (ECG) should be performed immediately.
