Elevated blood glucose with normal blood lipid levels does not necessarily indicate diabetes. Increased blood lipids often first manifest as elevated triglycerides; some patients exhibit hypertriglyceridemia prior to the onset of hyperglycemia, making elevated triglycerides an early sign of diabetes. For patients diagnosed with diabetes, initial management focuses on dietary modifications and increased physical activity—i.e., adopting a healthier lifestyle. Many individuals with mild diabetes can normalize their blood glucose levels solely through such lifestyle changes.
