Can individuals with strabismus wear orthokeratology (Ortho-K) lenses?
Disease description:
I have strabismus—might I need orthokeratology (Ortho-K) lenses? Do these lenses have any adverse effects on the eyes? Can individuals with strabismus wear Ortho-K lenses?
Patients with strabismus can wear orthokeratology (ortho-k) lenses. However, if the condition is severe, surgical intervention may also be required. This type of strabismus is typically caused by congenital or hereditary factors and may result in blurred vision or reduced visual acuity. Therefore, patients must closely monitor their postoperative condition. After surgery, patients should strictly follow their doctor’s instructions regarding the use of prescribed eye drops to prevent ocular infection.
