Laser surgery is generally an effective treatment for myopia. This procedure uses excimer laser to perform refractive ablation on the corneal stroma, enabling external light rays to focus precisely onto the retina and thereby correcting myopia. Typically, vision problems are resolved after surgery, allowing patients to see clearly without glasses. Laser surgery causes relatively minimal damage to the eye. However, patients with excessively thin corneas are at risk of developing secondary keratoconus during the corneal flap creation process; therefore, laser surgery is not recommended for them.
