Effects become apparent within 2 to 4 weeks. The medications listed above are antithyroid drugs that work by inhibiting iodine organification and thyroglobulin tyrosine coupling, thereby reducing thyroid hormone synthesis to treat hyperthyroidism. Thiamazole tablets are rapidly metabolized and produce a relatively quick therapeutic effect; clinical improvement is typically observed within approximately 2 to 4 weeks. However, these medications may cause leukopenia and impair liver function. Therefore, while taking these drugs, regular monitoring of liver function tests and complete blood counts is essential.
