Laser surgery for myopia can be categorized into surface procedures and lamellar procedures. Surface procedures—also known as corneal surface procedures—include LASEK and Trans-PRK. Trans-PRK, also referred to as “all-laser” surgery, involves direct laser ablation on the corneal surface and is widely performed. Lamellar procedures fall into two types: femtosecond laser-assisted small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE), commonly called “full-femtosecond” surgery, and femtosecond LASIK, often termed “half-femtosecond” surgery.
