Can pancreatitis cause yellow urine?
Disease description:
I noticed my urine was unusually dark yellow when urinating; it used to be a normal color. Can pancreatitis cause dark yellow urine?
Pancreatitis can cause yellowish urine. When the biliary tract becomes obstructed, bile cannot be excreted into the duodenum, disrupting the enterohepatic circulation of bile. As a result, unconjugated bile enters the systemic circulation, leading to dark-colored urine and jaundice (yellowing of the skin and sclera). If such manifestations occur in a patient with pancreatitis, prompt volume resuscitation followed by appropriate diuretic administration may help reduce toxin absorption.
