Can I take Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan for gastric ptosis and discomfort in the lower left abdomen?
Disease description:
I’ve been experiencing persistent gastric discomfort and loss of appetite, so I underwent an examination, which revealed gastropexy (gastric ptosis) and left lower abdominal discomfort. Would Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan (Tonify the Spleen and Augment the Qi Pill) be appropriate for treating gastric ptosis and left lower abdominal discomfort?
Gastroptosis with discomfort in the lower left abdomen may be treated with Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan (Tonify the Spleen and Augment the Qi Pill). In mild cases of gastroptosis, clinical symptoms are typically inconspicuous; patients should eat small, frequent meals, avoid overeating or binge eating, limit soup intake, and refrain from vigorous physical activity immediately after meals. However, when gastroptosis is severe—evidenced by marked downward displacement of the stomach into the pelvic cavity, significantly impairing gastrointestinal motility and digestion—this medication offers little therapeutic benefit. Severe gastroptosis requires surgical correction.
