Why does pancreatitis cause decreased urine output?
Disease description:
I’ve been drinking a lot of water, yet I’ve noticed that my urine output is very low. Could this be due to my pancreatitis? Why does pancreatitis cause decreased urine output?
Oliguria (reduced urine output) in patients with pancreatitis indicates severe disease and necessitates prompt medical intervention. Pancreatitis is a relatively common gastrointestinal disorder; however, when severe, it can impair renal function and lead to complications such as acute kidney injury or renal failure. In cases of severe pancreatitis accompanied by oliguria, renal failure should be the primary diagnostic consideration. Patients should immediately inform their physician, who will then conduct appropriate further evaluations based on the clinical presentation and initiate targeted treatment addressing the underlying cause to prevent disease progression.
