Dr. He Haochen
Excessive liver fire typically does not directly cause premature graying of hair. Both excessive liver fire and liver qi stagnation can lead to spleen deficiency, impairing the spleen’s normal functions. When the functions of the spleen and stomach are compromised, the production of qi and blood becomes insufficient. Since hair is nourished by blood, deficiency of qi and blood may result in hair loss or premature graying. Therefore, while excessive liver fire does not necessarily cause hair to turn gray, it can indirectly impair spleen-stomach function and hinder the generation of qi and blood.
