People with high blood sugar can eat red pitaya (dragon fruit).
Disease description:
I went to the hospital with a friend for a routine health checkup, and my blood glucose level was found to be slightly elevated. I usually love eating fruit. I’d like to ask: Can I eat red pitaya (dragon fruit) if I have high blood sugar?
Patients with high blood sugar may consume red pitaya (also known as “red绣球” dragon fruit) in moderation. Red pitaya is rich in anthocyanins, vitamins, antioxidants, zinc, and other beneficial compounds, which confer antioxidant effects, help delay aging, and lower blood lipid, blood pressure, and blood glucose levels. Although pitaya has a relatively high dietary fiber content, it is a low-calorie fruit that can effectively prevent constipation and reduce cholesterol. However, pitaya should only be consumed when blood glucose levels are stable, and intake should be limited—excessive consumption at one time should be avoided to prevent spikes in blood glucose that could compromise glycemic control.
