Pain in the right kidney is often caused by renal pathology and warrants prompt medical evaluation to determine the underlying cause. First, if the pain results from a tumor, hydronephrosis, or cyst, needle aspiration may be required; surgical intervention may be necessary in some cases. Second, if acute nephritis is the cause, timely diuretic, anti-infective, and antiviral therapy should be initiated. Additionally, for pain caused by kidney stones, pharmacological treatment and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) are recommended; surgery may be required when indicated.
