Is esophagitis serious?
Disease description:
I’ve been experiencing acid reflux for the past two days, along with painful swallowing. I visited the hospital and was diagnosed with esophagitis. I’d like to know: how serious is esophagitis?
Esophagitis is one of the more common gastrointestinal disorders. In most cases, with timely and active cooperation with physicians for examination and treatment, esophagitis can be effectively managed, and serious illness is generally avoidable. However, if esophagitis remains untreated or inadequately treated, disease progression may lead to complications such as gastrointestinal bleeding or other severe conditions, potentially resulting in a more serious clinical course.
