What Causes Kidney Pain After Urinary Calculi?
Disease description:
For the past two days, starting yesterday, I have experienced persistent lower back pain, sometimes so severe that it is unbearable. After visiting the hospital for evaluation, I was diagnosed with urinary calculi (kidney stones). So, what causes renal pain following urinary calculi?
Renal colic caused by urinary calculi typically results from the irregular edges of the stones, which can damage internal tissues and trigger severe renal pain. Additionally, if a stone obstructs the ureter, it may lead to hydronephrosis; patients may also experience symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. After diagnosis of urinary calculi, patients may, under their physician’s guidance, take oral lithotropic medications to facilitate stone expulsion.
