Can kidney stones cause increased urination at night?
Disease description:
I discovered I had kidney stones during a previous physical examination. Recently, I’ve been urinating excessively at night. I’d like to ask: Can kidney stones cause increased nocturnal urination?
Kidney stones typically do not cause nocturia (increased urination at night). However, nocturia may occur if kidney stones cause tubular injury or if a urinary tract infection develops concurrently with the stones. Patients with kidney stones should avoid foods high in oxalate, sugar, and animal protein, as well as purine-rich foods. Additionally, frequently changing body position while sleeping and maintaining adequate hydration can help facilitate stone passage.
