What should I do for urinary tract stones accompanied by urinary urgency and frequency?
Disease description:
Recently, I have experienced frequent and urgent urination, which is caused by a ureteral stone. What should I do about urinary urgency and frequency due to a ureteral stone?
Treatment for ureteral calculi accompanied by urinary urgency and frequency must be tailored to the individual patient’s condition. Prior to initiating treatment, patients should undergo an ultrasound or color Doppler ultrasound examination at a hospital to precisely determine the location and size of the stone.
If the stone is relatively small—less than 0.5 cm in diameter—medical expulsive therapy may be appropriate, such as taking lithotriptic granules or Shenshitong (a traditional Chinese medicine formulation).
However, if the stone is larger and cannot pass spontaneously, interventions such as laser lithotripsy or minimally invasive surgical procedures are typically recommended.
