Disease description:

I’m out enjoying some time outdoors, and the weather is quite hot. I’d love to drink lemon water, but I previously had a gastric ulcer, which is now improving. So I’d like to ask: Is it safe for someone with a gastric ulcer to consume lemons?

In general, patients may consume lemon, but only in small amounts to avoid exacerbating their condition. Small quantities can promote gastrointestinal motility and aid digestion. Lemon has potent antibacterial properties, helps lower blood lipid levels, and is rich in vitamin C, various other vitamins, water, and trace minerals—offering significant health benefits to the body. However, if symptoms are pronounced, lemon water should be avoided, as it may irritate ulcerated areas and worsen symptoms.
