There are numerous causes of kidney stone and urinary stone formation, including metabolic abnormalities and local factors—such as the presence of foreign bodies or infection in the urinary tract, or urinary tract obstruction—all of which can trigger stone formation. Additionally, prolonged use of certain medications may also precipitate the development of urinary or kidney stones. Patients with kidney or urinary stones can promote stone expulsion through measures such as increasing fluid intake, engaging in regular physical activity, and taking oral lithotriptic granules.
