There are several important considerations for undergoing gastroscopy or colonoscopy. Prior to the procedure, you must fast for 6–8 hours to ensure accurate examination results. The evening before the procedure, consume only light, easily digestible foods to avoid interfering with the examination. For colonoscopy, bowel cleansing is required—follow your physician’s instructions regarding laxative use to completely empty the intestines. After completing gastroscopy or colonoscopy, fasting is typically recommended for at least two hours.
